School Offers Mothers Pole Dancing; School Advertised in Lonely Hearts Ad
School officials in a Gillingham primary school in Kent, England are offering free pole dancing lessons to mothers of Gillingham’s students. The reasoning behind this unusual offer is the notion that the lessons will eventually help improve their children’s grades. School officials say that if parents are more involved in their children’s school, their children will have a greater interest in their classes. Mothers can take part in the evening lessons, where they learn how to proactively swing around a pole and perform sexy poses. “We are providing support for the community at a variety of levels, says Head Teacher Nick Fidddaman. “You can’t just raise the kid, you have to raise the community itself before the children are going to succeed.” The Gillingham school also offers parents dance and music lessons, as well as use of the school sports center.
Ridgewell Primary School in Essex, England is in need of a new headteacher, but school officials have had a difficult time recruiting suitable candidates. So teachers and students came up with a unique way of finding a new headteacher: by advertising the school as a personal “Lonely Hearts” advertisement in The Times Educational Supplement. The lonely hearts personal described Ridgewell School as “popular, attractive, small but bubbly,” and “enthusiastic and keen to learn.” Ridgewell’s ideal mate is someone “with a GSOH (Good Sense of Humor), energy, and vision.” Ridgewell School has 80 students ages four to eleven.
