About the Spanish Alphabet

April 30, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

The Spanish alphabet only has three more letters than the English alphabet, ch (che), ll (elle) and n (ene). All three letters simply follow the letter from the English alphabet which starts with the same or similar letter. The Spanish alphabet is as follows: a,b,c,ch,d,e,f,g,h,I,j,k,l,ll,m,n,o,p,q,r,s,t,u,v,w,x,y,z.

However, there is some controversy over the letters “w” and “k” due to their similar language origin. No Spanish words contain the letters “w” and “k” unless added through translation. Also, the letter “rr” is used in some versions of the Spanish alphabet when the “r” is rolled.

A Spanish dictionary may add to the confusion regarding the inclusion or exclusion of certain letters. For example, older dictionaries may list all words containing “ch” after all words beginning with “c” while new versions list the “ch” words in alphabetical order as with the English language. On the contrary, this is opposite when referring to the letter “n.” This change occurred in 1994.

To add more confusion, some letters may not be part of the official alphabet but are created by adding accents to the letters. For example, adding accents to the vowels o, e or u alter their pronunciation and, consequently, their meaning. These accented vowels are not included in the alphabet separately. Though other languages may add these accented vowels separately, when learning the Spanish language you must simply remember the variants of these vowels when accented.

If you speak English, you already know some Spanish words since these languages are both based on the Romance language. Though the spelling may be different, the pronunciation is almost identical with only the accent differing the words. For example, the word “baby” in English is pronounced similar to the Spanish word “bebe.” As you see, though, the spellings are different.

Once you have a good grasp on the Spanish alphabet, you will be ready to begin learning the language for your next trip. The residents of Spain welcome travelers and will be flattered at your attempts to communicate with them in their language. Also take some time to learn about the Spanish culture. This will make your trip even more enjoyable. You will find, though, that in the larger more tourism-based areas, everyone also speaks English. But, do not let that discourage you from improving your Spanish speaking skills. Keep practicing and be prepare for your next trip to Spain!

Multiple Intelligences: Study for Success

April 30, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

The study of Multiple Intelligences can be summarized as follows:

1. Howard Gardner created the Theory of Multiple Intelligences.

2. Multiple Intelligences determine the manner in which people process information and make meaning of contents.

3. There are 9 Multiple Intelligences:

1. Logical/Mathematical

2. Verbal/Linguistic

3. Bodily/Kinesthetic

4. Visual/Spatial

5. Musical/Rhythmical

6. Intrapersonal

7. Interpersonal

8. Naturalistic

9. Existential

4. Everyone has many Intelligences, though some are stronger than others.

5. One has to be careful not to label people based on their strongest intelligence.

6. Each Intelligence has the potential to be developed; it is learnable.

7. The application of this theory makes studying exciting, which brings enthusiasm and joy into learning.

8. The theory of Multiple Intelligences is encompassing and therefore, more democratic.

Now, how do students use their MI to study for success? Here are some examples:

1. Logical/Mathematical

Your subject has to make sense to you. Create ways by which you can find patterns or solve problems. Puzzles work wonders for you.

2. Verbal/Linguistic

Use words as much as you can. Speak aloud; discuss the topics with other people. Create mnemonics, word games.

3. Bodily/Kinesthetic

Write things down, walk around while studying; play with something, for instance, play dough or a slinky. Keep moving.

4. Visual/Spatial

Create images, graphs. Draw pictures, maps; use Graphic Organizers.

5. Musical/Rhythmical

Keep clicking your pen (but not in front of others as you will drive them crazy), beat on the table, listen to music; create sounds and rhythm. This is the best opportunity for you to do a rap of your subject.

6. Intrapersonal

Keep checking how you are feeling. Find ways to feel good about what you are studying. Think about the rewards of studying and how you will feel about them.

7. Interpersonal

You need a partner, at least. Study groups are the best for you. Find a buddy and study together. You can use your other MI to make studying a success.

8. Naturalistic

Create tables, categories, outlines, lists, classifications. Summarize your topic using bullets.

9. Existential

Use candles and incense, create a study heaven. Surround yourself with beautiful things: paintings, colors, objects, flowers. Feed your soul.

So we see that Multiple Intelligences are great for studying. Imagine doing it in a way that is more natural to you. Not only you will learn faster and better but you will also have fun in the process.

Do You Believe In Ghosts? Here Is A Ghostly Tale

April 30, 2009 Uncategorized 1 Comment

I have often wondered whether ghosts really exist, what do you think, do you believe they do? What we need is a blog all about ghosts where people can post their ghostly stories and opinions. The problem I suppose would be that you would get people just making up stories for a laugh, yes very funny I know. In this article, I am going to write about my opinions on this subject as well as telling the tale of a ghost which a friend of mine claims he saw. I have to say that this friend is quite trustworthy and not one who is known for telling fibs, but you can never be sure.

Now people may think that I am a bit mad or even sad as I have read many books on the subject of ghosts. It is an area that really fascinates me and I just wish that there was some way of proving that they do actually exist as I believe they do. I think from all of these studies, that a ghost is created when a person has died before their time as it were. I believe that when we are born there is like some sort of invisible stamp put on our head, this stamp has the date when we are going to die in the future. If a person then dies before this date they are then not ready to rest in peace and therefore stay around in the form of a ghost until that day arrives. Some like being a ghost so much that they decide to stay for much longer periods than even this date.

People may have died before their time due to some form of tragedy such as a car crash or even after being murdered.

The Ghost Story

This is a ghost story a friend told me about a year ago. When he was about ten years of age, on one Saturday afternoon, he was in a local park with three friends. They were all messing about as young boys tend to do when they noticed a girl who was about twelve years of age, who was picking flowers. For whatever reason they decided to run in quite a provocative way towards her, shouting at the same time, this would be in an attempt to scare her. Why they wanted to do this is not really that clear to me but I was not telling the tale and did not want to stop my friend to ask, as he was in some kind of flow.

The girl heard all of this commotion and noise but did not seem scared. She merely turned, looked and smiled at the oncoming boys before just disappearing into seemingly thin air. The boys were soon stopped in their tracks in amazement at what they had just witnessed. They all had to check with each other that what they had just seen actually did happen. They tried to find the girl but never saw her again.

Years later when my friend was about twenty-three years of age, he started to do some research about the park etc. He found that a girl of twelve had been murdered there forty years ago, weird!

I have many more ghostly tales but will not bore you with any more at this stage.

Animal Mind Communication

April 30, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

It is widely expected that animals communicate with each other using brain waves rather than voice. In fact much of the behavior of animals in large groups, swarms, schools, flocks and troops seem to indicate that there is non-verbal communication going on which is in much greater detail than once thought.

It would make sense from an evolutionary standpoint that those species which relied on their safety in numbers would also have developed was to quickly communicate with each other to survive. Indeed it appears in watching the behavior of herds that many of the animals all look up at the same time when one animal catches a glimpse of something triggering an anomaly reaction of curiosity, fear or alert. Are these animals tuned in their minds to the same frequency and therefore connected through a global consciousness in their local group?

Many books and research papers have been written on this subject and some have noticed that vulture type birds may fly from up to 60 miles away after one bird finds a dead animal to eat, yet we know there is no way for these birds to communicate via verbal techniques at that distance; so how do they do this?

What we need is to do more research and figure this out and use the eyes and ears of nature to help us, along with technically assisted UAV robotic craft to help us with surveillance and defeating our enemy. Once completed, we can thank the birds with the spoils of war, namely road kill enemies to eat. Think on this in 2006.

The Scope of Skin Care Schools

April 29, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

Want to enhance and correct the beauty and health of the largest organ in the body? With training from skin care schools, you can do just that.

Skin care schools and training
Skin care schools provide everything you need to become a licensed skin care therapist. Students learn professional techniques such as international skin treatments, speed waxing, customized treatment protocols, permanent makeup application, skin analysis, microdermabrasion, ingredient technology, makeup artistry, and prescriptive retailing. Most skin care schools provide training in classic techniques like European skin care and Chinese acupressure, along with emergent therapies such as aromatherapy and reflexology.

There are so many ways to beautify the skin, including skin analyzing, rejuvenating facial treatments and other skin care regimes. And with state-of-the-art equipment (galvanic, high-frequency, and ionic), skin care schools offer you the opportunity to learn some of the most scientifically advanced treatments, such as oxygen treatment, and crystal and laser hair removal.

Courses at skin care schools
Coursework at skin care schools encompasses safety and health; customer care; product knowledge and chemistry; anatomy, physiology, and nutrition; structure and functions of the skin; bacteriology and sterilization; makeup techniques; client consultation and preparation; skin analysis; electricity and machines; hydrotherapy training; cleansing the skin; massage techniques; facial treatments; body procedures; aromatherapy; exfoliation; mask therapy; waxing and bleaching of hair; electrolysis; spa techniques; retailing and business development; and state board preparation.

Beyond the basics, training at skin care schools may also include advanced courses in paramedical esthetics. In these programs, students discuss dermatological or cosmetic surgery procedures, learn the contraindications of internal and topical medications, understand pre- and post-operative care, learn cosmetic surgery counseling, and more.

Skin care careers
Typically, you’ll need to be at least 16 years old to enroll in skin care schools. Program length varies by state. In order to become a licensed skin care therapist in Florida or Massachusetts, for example, you need to complete 260-300 hours of training at skin care schools. In New York or California, however, aspiring skin care therapists need to complete 600 hours of skin care training. And in Illinois and Texas, the number of required hours jumps to 750. Be sure to verify requirements for skin care licensure with your state board licensing agency.

Skin care schools will prepare you to pass the state board exam, and may also assist you with career placement. With skin care training, you can go on to become a salon skin care therapist, paramedical esthetician, makeup artist, cosmetics buyer, cosmetic researcher, beauty editor, skin care instructor, medical technician, or anything in between.

If you’re ready for a fabulous cosmetology career, skin care schools have got you covered.

UAV Air-Breathing SAM Upgrade Recommendations

April 29, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

Can a hybrid Surface to Air Missile, UAV loiter for hours and then become a missile to down an enemy aircraft?

Small UAV surface to air missile (SAM), which is air-breathing is a good idea and yields many possibilities to the future of air combat.

shephard.co.uk/UVOnline/Default…6a-10526cb81f17

Now we need to design a beyond line of sight (BLOS) radar single unit to work without any other help. A net-centric battlespace component, which can operate completely autonomously without the help of satellite communication, AWACS or any other source. This BLOS radar unit can be mounted on a ship for the Navy or trailer for Army or Marines, well then such a single mission UAV, or kill projectile would be one excellent tool. Shoot it, forget about it as it will find its target eventually, even if it has to dog fight it’s intended victim.

An incoming force of a hundred Chinese fighters would have to try and dog fight a hundred UAVs, which can pull 18g’s as apposed to the manned modern fighter plane of 8-9 G’s due to the weakness of the human pilot. Since these UAV SAMs are air breathing they will not run out of rocket fuel or be limited in range and therefore can be very small and stealthy and able to dodge air to air missile defenses of the incoming fighter planes or enemy threat. If the cost to build was high, perhaps we could even fly them back, disarm in the air and parachute them for later use if they did not find a target or if all targets were destroyed already?

The Chronosphere – Revealing the Nature of Time

April 29, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

The conventional view of physical life is linear. By “linear”, I mean the concept that the lives we live can be described in terms of a progression beginning at birth, through the past to the present, then to the future and ending at death. This is often referred to as a “timeline”. The model for this is a line where “now” is a point on the line, the part of the line “behind” now is the past, and the part of the line in “front” of now is the future. In this essay I will introduce you to a radically different viewpoint, in which “now” is actually the center of a sphere, with an infinity of available “pasts” and “futures” comprising the body of the sphere itself.

To prepare yourself for this new understanding, you need to set aside the linear concept of life and time and, instead, consider that life and time are simultaneous. What this means is that past and future do not exist in the way we have been taught to understand them and, furthermore, that what we are accustomed to calling “past” and “future” are essentially the same. All that actually exists is “the now”, or Moment, and that is the whole of it. The following exercise will help you in making this radical shift.

First, imagine an individual physical life experience as represented by a finite line starting at a beginning called birth, progressing to a point called “now”, and continuing until an end called death. Next, imagine escaping this line and viewing it from an external, non-dimensional perspective. From this extra-dimensional vantage point, the entire line representing the life lived up to the now point can be seen, but in addition is seen what could be described as an infinite three-dimensional array of alternate lines on the “future” side of now, all converging at the now point. This array represents all the alternate future timelines that can be lived. A similar infinite three dimensional array of alternate lines on the “past” side of now is also converging at the now point, and amongst that array is the past timeline remembered as having been lived. Note that this “past” array does not consist of the timelines other people have lived, but in fact are the alternate timelines not remembered as having been lived by the individual in question.

Thus, the now point represents the center of a chronosphere consisting of an infinity of timelines. These timelines radiate from the center to the chronosphere surface, like an infinite porcupine ball. We have divided this chronosphere arbitrarily and conceptually into two hemispheres, one of which we call the “past” hemisphere and the other of which we call the “future” hemisphere. Unlike the Earth’s hemispheres, which are separated into north and south by a line called the equator, the hemispheres of the chronosphere are separated by a conceptualized plane that runs perpendicular to any given timeline and bisects the sphere at the now point. However, from our non-dimensional vantage point “past” and “future” are not perceived as separated in this manner, contrary to the arbitrary conceptual division we have made within our dimensional perception. This chronosphere of all pasts and futures is actually One. As part of the essence of the chronosphere, the dimension of time itself is recognized as nonlinear and is measured at right angles to all timelines. By contrast, change over time, which is measured along dimensions other than time, runs congruent with any given timeline.
